Recreating 2021 Inauguration Day Fashion

Hey everyone! I know fashion was probably the least of peoples concerns on Biden's Inauguration Day, but I couldn't help myself. The monochromatic outfits made me so happy, I'm a sucker for a colour theme. Today I wanted to show you some pieces I found on ASOS to help you recreate two of my fav fits from the day! First up is the new First Lady, Jill Biden. Her aqua blue monochrome outfit spoke to my soul. The matching gloves and mask topped it off, I couldn't stop staring! On ASOS I found a few pieces that would be nice paired together to recreate this look. I feel like the simple blue, baggy, unstructured dress would really compliment the OTT trench coat. The layers in the coat will help add some shape back to your body that may have been hidden by the dress and because they are such similar shades I feel like they'd go really well together. Plus both items are currently on sale so it's a win win! Dress £14 Coat £47.60 Next, the iconic Michelle Obama. Although ...

How Connotations Can Change Over Time

I'm continuously fascinated by the business world. Constantly looking at how the marketing and PR teams work, what strategies they use and how they present their company to the world.  One of the main aspects I love is a business' branding. I watched a TED talk a few days ago about branding, it was about how brand logos have had different connotations in the past and how these have changed over time.  The one that really caught my attention was the Nazi symbol swastika. The swastika is notoriously known as a bad thing, with negative connotations and a horrible history of genocide and fascism. However, many people (including myself until a few days ago) don't know that the swastika was actually a much loved symbol before World War II and Hitler "stole" it. "Swastika" comes from Sanskrit "svastika" meaning "conductive to well being" and in Hinduism the right facing symbol is seen as symbolising the sun, prosperity and good luck.  The s...

Trendsetting through Tik Tok

As we know, like many others,  I love Tik Tok. I wanted to focus today’s post on how Tik Tok can make or break trends and styles as the influence from the app to the outside world is crazy!  First up is Topshop Joni Jeans. In my day I have been partial to a pair of Joni jeans, they may as well have been spray painted to my legs. I had a pair in several different colours with different cut outs and styles and I will admit, I loved them. However, I was around 15 at this time.. since then I have moved on and left that stage of my life behind me. Tik Tok is making others want to do the same apparently. There is a kind of running joke on Tik Tok these days about how Joni jeans are no longer the “cool” or “in” thing to be wearing and if you do wear them you should be embarrassed and change immediately. The influence is fascinating, so many people have now stopped wearing the particular style of jeans because a few people off Tik Tok claimed it was embarrassing and not fashionable or...
